What is it going to take, another 911 to happen, before people wake-up, you hear about it all the time, but yet, you still brush it off, as if it's just another story in the news and continue to go about your business with out thinking about protecting yourself or your computer.

Spyware is a Security Risk - No Questions Asked!

You better think again, if your PC is not protected, your a sitting duck and scam artists around the world are most likely plotting their next scheme, who knows, they might already know more about you, then you do, just waiting for the right moment to empty your bank account and destroy your credit history!

Spyware, Adware & Malware are all major threats to pc consumers and security software developers around the world. Just recently, the Census board determined that nearly $4.2 billion dollars was lost, last year, due to viruses, spyware and phishing schemes.

Spyware is big business and if there's a way to avoid it, I'd recommend doing so.

Companies like Pareto Logic (XoftspySE) spend millions every year developing new software technologies to protect consumers from these types of crimes.

In fact, 1 out 10 websites that you visit every day, infect your PC with some sort of spyware. In most cases, it's mild and nothing to be to concerned about. Mostly marketers and other online businesses use cookies to track certain information about you, such as; where you came from, how long you visited their website and what kind of products you buy. It rarely ever goes any further then that, but don't ever let your guard down, spyware is spyware, it's an invasion of privacy and a serious criminal offense if used improperly and you don't want it on your computer.

If your not being cautious and your careless with the types of files you download or the videos you watch, maybe even plugins you install, you could be in for a long ride.

Spyware Strikes Without Warning:

Just take a look at what happened to Richard Barker from Seattle Washington, after he downloaded a few music albums from a P2P network.

"Hey Joe, I'd be more then happy to tell you my spyware horror story, so you can share it with others, if you think you can use me as an example, then please do so."

It happen about 3 months ago, I was using my computer, drinking a cup of coffee, doing the usual routine like always, I somehow ended up landing on the Adobe Photoshop website, I had been wanting to buy Photoshop for a while, but I didn't have the money at the time, (it's $700 bucks) so I continued to browse around to see if I could find it for free somewhere, you never know, sometimes you get lucky with that stuff.

Anyhow, I found my way to a torrent website (P2P File Sharing Network), I didn't know what they were at the time, but I sure as heck do now! I saw all kinds of free links to download the Photoshop software I was after, but the only way I could get the downloads to work, was if I installed the software (The P2P Network Software).

I didn't know what a P2P network was at the time, but they sure as heck seem solve my problem, all I saw, was "download this software free" and if that's all I had to do, I said, then I'm all for it. I can tell you know, that was a big mistake.

I installed the P2P software, then downloaded Photoshop and found a serial key for it, by that time, I was ready to get up and go do something else. A few days later, I was looking around to see what else I could find for free on this new P2P network, I scored all kinds of free software that I would have normally had to pay for, I also downloaded about 15 full length movies and around 40 different songs from some of my favorite musicians.

What I didn't know, was that as soon as the P2P software was installed on my computer, "it's always connected", and when it's connected, it's always sharing files, even if I don't want it too, that's thing. If you join one of these networks and let them access your computer, you don't really have the option of choosing which files they can download, and which ones they can't, had I known this to begin with, I probably would of reconsidered.

The problem I have with this, is, I run a successful online retail store, which means I have allot of my customers private information stored on my PC. So, You can see where this is going...

The inevitable happened, an entire fleet of different scam artist around the world had complete access to my computer and all my customers, including home addresses, credit card numbers and so on. I was in big trouble and didn't even know it.

Well about three weeks later, I had a couple suspicious looking individuals knock on my door, apparently they were from the Federal Bureau of Investigations, (FBI) I hadn't had the slightest idea to why they were there, but when one of them brought on the assumption that I was stealing my customers credit cards, going on shopping sprees all across the internet, I quickly paid attention.

After hours of relentless accusations, we finally narrowed it down to what was happening, and that's mostly because one of them asked me if I happened to have P2P network software installed on my PC.

I can honestly say that my business has gone straight down the drain and that I'm having to start all over again from scratch. What a waste! Not to mention that my computer now has tons of uncontrollable popup advertisements from porn websites and online casinos every time, I log on. It's very frustrating.

If you can avoid this from happening to you, I would suggest it, I know my situation might be more severe then most, but spyware is a serious crime and should not be taken lightly. Be careful what you download and the websites you visit, because you never know when it can happen to you.

If there's a way to avoid all this from happening to you, do it. If I had an anti-spyware program installed on my computer at the time (much like XoftspySE's software) this could have all been easily avoided, they wouldn't have let me download the P2P software to begin with, without throwing up a great big warning sign first.

Now that you've read my story, I hope you can see why having anti-spyware software installed on your computer is necessary, and if you don't or never plan on it, your almost guaranteed to have spyware problems.

Richard
